BREAKING UPDATE

from your Program Chairman about the 22-24 August MSWG Emma Cook meeting and follow-on demo and workshops.

We are currently at only 50% enrollment for the workshops on Sunday and Monday.

I can’t emphasize enough how exceptional an opportunity this is for our club members. Emma is a world class turner from England whose demos at TAW were highly acclaimed…with highest ratings from several MSWG woodturners in attendance…with pleas to get her to our club ASAP.

Through some effort, but a lot of timing and luck, I was able to piggy-back on her upcoming trip to SWAT at the end of August, to swing by our club. Massive savings on transportation costs, and she’s staying at my guest house (more savings).

All of this timing and savings brings a highly skilled, highly rated and recommended turner to our club for the Saturday morning free demo, with an afternoon paid demo and Sunday/Monday workshops for pennies on the dollar.

Bottom Line: this is as good as it gets at the MSWG…exceptional talent with the option for hands on training at a fraction of the cost of an Arrowmont or John C. Campbell residence workshop. This is in your own backyard. Don’t pass up this opportunity.

That said, we’ve already had inquiries from folks outside MSWG expressing interest in this opportunity, but so far we’ve restricted it to club members only for first access.

Starting Monday (3 Aug), we will be opening our meeting, afternoon demo and workshops to turners outside MSWG. Our President, Rick Gillespie, will be calling other club presidents (Arkansas, Mississippi, Nashville area) to offer these rare opportunities to their clubs.

It’s crunch time! Sign up online and pay your fee to reserve a spot. We have plenty of space at the NHLA to accommodate anyone interested in the paid Saturday afternoon demo, but only 7 workshop slots left between Sunday and Monday. If you try to sign up for a workshop, but find out there are no remaining slots for that day, then I will be the single point of contact for a standby list…it will be a first-come-first-serve list, and I will call you if a slot becomes available.

Please don’t miss this chance. I don’t know when I’ll be able to get a turner of this caliber at our club again.
