After starting its life in a wooded area in west Tennessee, the land became part of a farm that later became a subdivision. Living on a fence line for the final 31 years of its life must have been interesting as the tree observed the lives of several families.

When the tree was taken down by the current homeowner, I rescued this section from the base of the tree. It was clear the tree had not enjoyed an easy life as it had several scars and quite a few nails.
