The Pink Palace Craft Fair:
Traffic was heavy and steady from the moment they opened the gates on Friday morning and didn’t
much slow down by Sunday evening when the fair ended. We had a large booth full of items plus a separate tent equipped with two lathes with members turning tops, finials and other small items, plus Rick Cannon demonstrating carving and pyrography. We saw a great deal of interest in our craft that resulted in a couple of hundred items sold. Some of the visitors mentioned that they’ve been stopping by our booth for years and one, a young woman, wanting to get one of our tops since she had 7 others she had collected over the years. At any given time there could have been 10 to 12 MSWG members in or near our space talking to and explaining woodturning to dozens of people. We also talked to several past and prospective members who stated a wish to begin turning.
